　　“不學習語言規則、不掌握相當數量的詞匯，英語應用能力就是空中樓閣”。（包天仁語）俄羅斯通常在初中一年級開設英語課（相當于我國的小學5年級），每周 3節課，第一學年即要求掌握約1300個英語詞匯，學生到高中畢業時要掌握1萬以上詞匯，基本可以讀懂英文原著。而我國現在對高中畢業生的要求是掌握 2000詞匯（包括詞組），新研制的課程標準要求掌握4000個左右的詞匯。我們應該借鑒國外的經驗，盡快解決英語教學費時較多、收效較低的現狀。

　　而目前在小學的低年級的英語教學中，不要求學生掌握詞匯，而只要求學生能根據提示或圖片說出該單詞，其本質無非是要學生們死記硬背，鸚鵡學舌。由于小學生們沒有相應的讀音規則訓練，不熟悉詞匯的拼寫規則，單詞的音、形、意三者不能有效的結合在一起，因而導致了單詞記憶的困難，并成了小學生雪英語的瓶頸。
